Large airport: 1 hr typical, 1.5 hr if you know it'll be busy.

Small airport: 20 minutes.

1 hour.

It's not like it used to be. I could park 30 minutes before my flight and still have plenty of time.

Depends on the airport and the time of the flight. I know I can get to DTW less than an hour before an 8:00am flight and have time to be at first boarding. On the other hand, we once spent over 1.5 hours in line to check in at FLL.

it depends on the airport

the kansas city airport , i can arrive as little as 30 minutes with no problem, but i normally shoot for one hour

some big crazy airport like atlanta , i would shoot for 1.5 hours

If say a flight leaves at 4:00 PM, the boarding time is 30 minutes prior, so 3:30 PM. I would try to arrive at the airport no later than 2:30 PM. I would shoot for sometime between 2:00 and 2:30 PM. (I have to travel often through ATL.)

45 minutes to 1 hour is usually okay for DTW as long as it's not a holiday

I usually give myself waaay to much time, but I almost missed my flight coming back from Vegas last year because of how busy the place was.

personally for me, it all depends. if you got your seat, then an hour would be fine. but since i fly southwest a lot, i want to get an 'a' boarding pass since they get seated first. so i usually try and get there 2-2.5 hours before the flight.

It depends on where you are flying from. My local airport in Wisconsin? 30 minutes. Sky Harbor? About 60-90, depending on time of day.

you can get/print your boarding pass up to 24 hours before your flight online, like from your house the night before. then you always get "A"

They say two hours at the airport I usually fly out of (San Jose International), but the times I've shown up that early I end up waiting around forever before my flight. An hour works.

At least an hour, and print the boarding pass before you get there.

you people are crazy, maybe a little over half an hour is what we do at MSP. Never had a problem, international though we'll do more like 90 min.

And if you ever run into a delay, be it in traffic, get stopped for a traffic ticket, in security, or with ticketing, checking baggage, parking?

While you will usually have a while to wait using the 1 hour rule, there will be that occational time that you barely make it and end up being VERY thankful you gave yourself that much time.
