My wife tried to pull the laptop (HP Pavilion zv6000, Win XP) out of standby mode earlier, and it did not want to come out and play.
I ended up manually shutting the computer down. When I restarted it, It acted as if the amount of memory installed had been cut in half, very laggy and taking forever to load everything.
After it finally did load, i noticed that the date and time had reverted way back to 2004 and some random time.
My immediate thought was the cmos battery, as I have never replaced it, and have had the ancient time machine since about 2006 or so.
Is that my best bet, or could the problem be more serious??
