Tima Capsule/Machine Help

MotionMan

Lifer
We had a Time Capsule with a Time Machine backup. The Time Capsule was acting weird, so I cloned the drive, but never used the new drive a a Time Machine.

The Time Capsule did die and, of course, on the the MacBook it was backing up died soon thereafter.

Now the replacement MacBook is not recognizing the cloned drive as a Time Machine backup.

How do I fix this? Is there a way to pull the data (I only really need the documents folder) from the Time Machine backup file?

How'd you clone it? File system level copy or an actual partition clone tool? dd?

You should be able to open the sparseimage on any Mac, even if there's something goofy going on. Get your data off at least.

I used CCC.

I was wondering if I could open the space and find the entire Documents folder.

I'll have to try that.

CCC should have worked.

I have cloned and recloned the backup of my old Macbook (replaced a year+ ago) across a number of storage systems, and still occasionally open it up to grab something I missed.
