Two honest questions (because I do not follow the NBA nearly as closely as I did 20 years ago):

1. Does he usually guard the other team's center?
2. Is he usually guarded by the other team's center?

He plays the PF spot. San Antoinio actually has a separate starting center whom they use to complement Duncan's abilities. Yes he plays like a center, but playing from the PF spot affords him some advantages. It allows him to take advantage of his skills with less wear because he doesn't guard the other big. He made the request to play PF in the NBA and the team so far has honored it.
