In most places in America they probably don't. However, Apple sells gadgets around the world. Not every country is "meh" about a persons sexuality. Even places in America are still bad. It is not illegal to discriminate against gays and lesbians over employment in some states.

When will being gay quit being a thing? Who the fuck cares anymore? It is like coming out against segregation: yeah, about 99.9% of us are on board with it and don't give a flying fuck.

To be sure there are still things that need to change, such as wide acceptance of gay marriage, but I know of people who are supportive of gay but have an issue with changing their definition of marriage. Just like minorities can still feel pockets of racism with a slim minority being racist.

Is gay going to be the new thing for the next 50 years? It feels like for the past 15 years it is such a non-issue and the only ones who care about it are other gay activists.

I think it is one of those things that you grow up being conditioned to think it is something bad or negative. Many people view homosexuals as some sort of deviants and that they should be ashamed of being gay. Some people actually get angry and want to beat or kill people for being gay.

So, I suspect that it is a very difficult thing to admit openly, especially for someone his age who grew up in a time when it wasn't talked about freely.

I'm not sure why someone admitting who they are and being proud of it bothers you or anyone else though. It isn't stupid and maybe it will help others who are dealing with the same feelings.

I guess the word "proud" can have different connotations, and different significance to many people. Perhaps I just thought that in this day an age, most of us had moved past the need to feel proud of our sexual orientation.

P.S. Now that I think of it, I said to friend once who is a lesbian. She was pretty annoyed at me.

"Pride" in the context of "gay pride" is about being whatever the opposite of "ashamed" is.

Maybe it was a poor choice of words once upon a time, but moot point is moot, and English is notoriously flexible anyway.
