Centralized services are bad. They have one failure point, and one place to collect data. It may be better than facebook, but that's a bar a sloth could jump over. A better system is hosted on the user's own equipment, and connected p2p. That's the way the internet was designed, and the direction people need to move towards.

I agree p2p would be better from a data security/network robustness standpoint but you'd lose all the convenience of the cloud, I don't see the average Justin Bieber fan going with it.
