Seems to have really snuck up on me

I didn't even know they were making it until a few days ago.

Definitely an independent title too

Your goal is to lead a handful of peasants to establish a small haven in the wild backcountry of a fantasy kingdom. Bring a diverse cast of followers to your settlement on the edge of the world and then carefully select members of your village to put down their ploughs, leave their comfortable homes, and take whatever weapon they may have at hand to join you on expeditions of exploration and conquest in the surrounding lands. There you?ll encounter the characters and creatures of myth and folklore, and find much needed resources to expand your village whether it be iron to make weapons or a mystic tome to entice a great mage to join you. Should your forays meet with success, fame, fortune and prosperity await. But you must take care, for even the loss of a lowly farmer can spell disaster when harvest time comes.

Looks intriguing, and its fairly cheap for a new game as well. And its an independent title from Tilted Mill. After playing Caesar IV, they definitely have some talent and it will be interesting to see how they do independently.

Edit -

October Update

* Pet dragons now move at the proper speed
* Score modifiers for the difficulty setting have been rebalanced
* When playing on easy, the maximum difficulty level of an encounter has been lowered
* When playing on difficult or hardcore, enemies will work together more frequently when they fight you
* Fixed several issues relating to random chests, the way they were distributed in the world, and King's requests for items in chests
* Audio loading moved from pre-game to scenario creation (may fix some audio driver conflicts, improves game start time)
* Fixed an issue with some versions of direct 9.0c in particular installations of Vista and DirectX 10 that would cause crashes on start-up or when loading
* Switched to starting in windowed mode by default (may fix some crashes on start-up)
* Fixed minimap corruption at higher resolutions
* Fixed a rare infinite loop in scenario creation that caused a lock-up on starting a new character
* Fixed an issue with the game resizing fonts more than necessary (may fix some crashes, particularly upon changing to full-screen mode)

I've been following this studio for a while, and I'll be waiting to see what project they do AFTER this one. It just doesn't look compelling to me.

Heard about it earlier but never really saw any details. Didn't realize it was coming out already. Could be cool, and I liked Caesar IV. I may give it a try after I get my new PC working next week.

Thanks for reminding of this, I'd forgotten since I posted about it a few months ago

Now I guess I need to look into Steam and see what it's all about before I decide whether to get this or not.

I'll be following this. I don't have the funds at the moment, but it looks very intriguing and I would like to support a developer making games independently.

Addictive little game and tougher than it seems at first.

I don't regret spending the $20 bucks.

Well, I said screw it and bought both Hinterland and the CotN Pack from Steam. Hopefully, I'll get time to play it a little this weekend. Heh, I've bought too many games the last few months to really play them all, too much reading in AdamK47's thread.

I'm going to wait for some good reviews to read .. but I've actually been keeping an eye on this one. Looks like a solid throwback style of RPG/adventure game, something like Conqueror 1086AD. I'd love to support an indie studio, I might end up picking this one up. However, just grabbing WAR (which I might bag once my free month is up), Crysis Warhead, and the Rockstar pack while it was on sale, I have a lot to play for now.
