After it rains there is red dust stains from my concrete tile roof everywhere. Is there something wrong or do they just do this? Crappy tiles and the color layer is failing?

If it's new, or you live somewhere that doesn't get much rain, I would expect some color washout. If it's a regular occurrence I'd be inclined to inspect the roof.

I think the roof is 14 years old. This only started happening at most a year ago. It doesn't rain much here, but it's been particularly rainy this year and it happens every storm now.

Tile roofs generally have a 40 to 50 year life expectancy barring unforeseen circumstances. ^ is an idiot.

The tiles themselves can last considerably longer than that, it's the water resistant underlayment that fails.

I think you should reread the question and answers in this thread and ask yourself what question you answered with a generic statement about life expectancy, then let us know who is an idiot.

There was a response between your post and mine that has been mysteriously deleted. I was not referring to you, but to that post. Maybe ask the mods why posts are being stealth deleted.

I've seen that happen to a post or 2 of mine and thought it was something I did by mistake

My b. fwiw it's being replaced anyway >_<. Tiles are fine, but between damage and other shoddy workmanship the repair costs weren't really worth keeping an ugly tile roof that didn't fit the house or neighborhood.

They just do it. If it has been windy and that has been flexing the roof so they grate against each other, that'll generate more dust.
