I'm heading south tonight. It's been 10 years since I've been over the border. What's it like now? Any issues crossing that weren't there before?

Thanks!

Wen't there with a buddy two years back.

Cubans are hard to find as they have counterfeited everything.

Everytime a street seller offers you something for $40, you can most likely pay $10.

Good Tequila is still expensive at the liquor stores, not much of a bargain over US prices.

Sleazy strip clubs on Revolucion are good times. No cover, but beers are $3-$4. Tipping involves grabbing a grils breasts or ass and then giving her a dollar, if she likes you slide the money in her panties and rub something on the way out.

Don't drink the water!

Photos with Donkey's painted like Zebras, WTF?

Don't get drunk, you get drunk you get stupid, the loclas are watching and if no one has your back you will be at an ATM machine handing over all your cash.

Just because a street/taco vendor gives you a bottle of Corona and then tells you to pour it in a cup and continue walking, YOU CAN'T have open containers in TJ. Vendors and dirty cops work togehter on that scam, so drink your beer at the stand! Cops will get you for $200 easily on that one or else your going to the TJ jail.

When the whistle blows in the clubs they want to pour Tequila down your throat, interestingly enough the bottle is always a very old and shredd Cuervo bottle that countless others have sucked on. Stay the fock away fro mthe Tequila pours.

Order beer, they can't fake beer!

Whore houses exist and prostituion is rampant in the red light district. I saw an easy 200 whores in about 4-blocks in the red light district and it was still light out! We bailed out of TJ once the sun started to set.

Mu understanding is full service is $60, plus $8 for the room ,and $2 for the room cleaner. You can hang with the girls in the whore houses and drink, there are a ton of girls within, more girls than patrons so you will always have one on your lap. The mini-beers are like $4-$5 for the girls.

Enjoy!

I went there quite a few times when I was TAD out there at NAS North Island. 20 years later I went there a couple times while out in San Diego for a 2 week class and was amazed that the only thing that seemed to have changed was they now had a Hard Rock Cafe. I never drove across, always parked and walked across through the little gate and in all the times I went there was never anyone there from whatever passes for Mexican Customs to check out who was entering the country. I guess Mexico was not all that worried about pedestrian illegal immigrants.

edit:
A friend of mine from college lived in mexico for a couple of months, doing fine until he got up to tijuana. Some hoods there forced him to smoke meth and stole all his money and passport. He snuck away from them and managed to get across the border, but asked the wrong cop for help in san diego. The asshole cop busted him for public intoxication (or something) for being on meth. That stuff ruined a good couple of months of his.

ensenada is similiar to rosarito, except its not as crowded because its a bigger. but same activities and nightlife, and the cops dont hassle you as much.

just keep following the toll roads for another 45 minutes/hour after rosarito and you'll be there. id give you back routes and shortcuts to avoid the tolls, but it just confuses people more. i used to spend my summers in rosarito so the city and teh areas around it are pretty familiar to me.
