Can I run my OCZ 2gb pc2-6400 platinum rev1 4-5-4-15@400MHZ at tigher timing (ie 4-4-4-12)? Will it cause any decrease in performance?

It will cause an increase in performance. Anything under the rated timings will always :) 3-3-3-9 would be even better yet, or 4-4-4-4. My OC-Z Platinum sticks did either 3-3-3-8 @ 400 mhz or 4-4-4-4 @ 500 mhz. They were PC2-8000 rated 4-5-4-15 though, maybe same ram. Voltage was 2.25

I tested my ram and they passed memtest with 4-4-4-12 @ 400mhz at stock voltage (2.1V) and orthos blend. I don't think this ram will pass at 3-3-3-9. I'll try with 4-4-4-4.

I can set 4-4-4-4 in the bios but cpuz detect them as 4-4-4-9. Which is correct? Is Tras 9 lowest I can go?

I know that as far as AM2 chips are concerned, a higher tras gives greater bandwidth but less stability with an optimum balance at a tras of 15.
