I am trying to help a student org. at school buy a new computer, hopefully a pair if we can get the price tag down enough. They are using P2 or P3 I think so it would be a major upgrade. However, they have to be good enough to last a couple of years of nominal use (browsing, word processors, probably no gaming). Any help will be much appreciated as they are on a very tight budget.

If I cant get a good enough deal on a DIY, I might have to get a single HP or something on BF :(

Like limbo, as low as you can go. Around 250 per system can be a rough est.

Wow, that is low. This will be fun:

CasEdge Case + 300W PSU - $41.99

Chaintech 7VIF4 KM400 Motherboard - $44.49

AMD Sempron 2200+ 1.5GHz 333FSB - $43

Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM Hard Drive - $50.64

Samsung 52X CD-ROM Black - $17.99

PQI 256MB PC3200 - $39.73

$237.84, but you still need to add a KB, Mouse, OS, and possibly a Floppy and Speakers. That would push the total over $350 per system.

I sent you a PM.

Unless you can get Windows for $5 on some school site license, a couple of Hot Deals Dell computers is the way to go. Celerons are dog-awful for gaming but are fine for word processing and other office use.

I have licenses for OS's and Office suites. Hardware is the only thing, we even have KB, Mice and Floppy drives.

Where can I get cheap Celeron Dells?

sc420 seem like the best deal for you. And you will know the PSU is pretty reliable.

edit: Text, $229, no bad , no rebates, free shippage.
