tigerdirect's P3 1gig w/820 mobo and 128rdram

i just got this package in the mail and when i read what it said inside i was feeling kinda crappy. it said "the Boxed Intel P3 processor 1.0GHz used in the Special Promotional Pack is different from the high volume 1.0 GHz that will be available in Q'3. The processors in this pack carry two heatsinks that are larger in size than the one heat sink that will be used in mass production. This is due to lower temperature specifics of the Promotional Pack processor." also, "this processor is not validated to operate with any other Intel or 3rd party motherboard." Did i buy an outdated lemon?? man, i'll be upset if this thing doesn't work when i put it together. any suggestions as to whether i sould return the set or did i get a good deal?? paid 500.

Hmm the p3 ighx is worth more than 500 by itself. 128 megs of rdram is worth like 200+ $$ and the mobo is 150+. I think you may have gotten a good dela(but slower than if you had gotten pc133 rdram sucks bad)

thanks! so you dont think that iwill have a problem? i just hope that it will work together. i also hope that this isnt an overclocked p3 5 or 6 hundred with a big fat heatsink on it.

well an iwill board might have a problem but the intel board you got should run it just fine🙂

You are probably screwed if you want to send it back. I bought a faulty motherboard from them, and couldn't send it back, we had the receipt and everything. We tried to get a hold of the President of the company, but he wouldnt respond. I wouldnt dare buy from TigerDirect again.

I bought the same thing you did and currently have my processor running in an Abit SH6. Hoping to sell the RAM and motherboard. It works well for the most part, but I am having trouble playing Counterstrike. Other than that I'm having no trouble at all. Hope I can get this Counterstrike problem fixed pretty soon.

Tiger Direct are a bunch of morons that shouldn't be selling PC hardware. I bought an internal Zip drive from them and they claimed that it didn't need drivers to work (it came with no diver disk). They told me it was supposed to be like a second hard drive, and didn't require any drivers. Uh...hello!?
