WOW - For 1080p do i need more than 1.2 gigs of vram when driving a SINGLE monitor?

my only concern is I like skyrim with mods, but, when i run my gtx460s (768MB) in SLI with all the mods (big mod list, including all the high res enviornmental mods), its still buttery smooth. but i do notice stutter if i switch it to 1 card.

better way to put it: 6950 2gig or 570 1.2gig? *sigh* decisions decisions (although the 8800gt still plays d3 at max details at 1080p lol)
