So in their attempt to break some sort of record all AMD products on that day will be 50% off. I might pick up a new cpu and replace this aging one i have =P

Where does it say Tigerdirect will have 50% off that day ? Its not in the video. If you don't link that I will lock this thread.

Not to me. He is not promoting anything that benefits him in some way (No payment, ect.., that I can see). It is fairly related to the forum section. There is no affiliate links in the url (As far as I can see).

Basically I guess anandtech Spam is pushing a product or site or whatever for personal gain and/or not related to the forum it is posted in, and especially trying to hide the true url and/or site and/or intensions.

Either way though, it will probably end up edited or locked.

I actually see this post as very helpful to me since i'm interesed in getting a AMD cpu, and I probably wouldn't have gone to the hot deals forum first.

Just my opinion of course. :)

No im not spamming =P. i just thought this would be useful to some people =). Subscribing to tiger on youtube so it came up.

Between 0:50 and 1:10 they state that anything you need to build a PC ( that AMD manufactures) will be 50%. I have no idea if that will include ATI.

The question to ask ourselves is would we be happy if this forum had 20 threads each relating to the upcoming special of the day for any given etailer or retailer.

I suspect the answer would be no. I know mine would be.

I don't mind when people slip in a post here and there to an existing thread to say "hey microcenter has $180 940's this weekend" provided it is germane to the thread's ongoing conversation.

But to create threads whose sole purpose is marketing and advertising...there is a sub-forum for that activity for a reason. Its not about "is this spam" or "who benefits from the poster posting this special?"...its about threads being in the right forum. Some things have a gray area and they are rightfully tolerated, we get a lot of cooling related threads in this forum and no one feels it is bad thing.

But the advertising stuff, lead balloon around here, goes in the Hot Deals forum.

I really don't know what they are saying in the video or what it was about .... all I saw was 2 girls and heard "amd"

maybe the topic should be "amd girls"

I doubt this applies to the online website? Sounds like you have to go the event to get the products?

If I lived in Florida I might just go.
