I read somewhere than tiger made more in one tourney than nicklaus in his whole career. Is this stat true or do i have it wrong.

Nicklaus made $5,734,031 in his career.
Woods best in 1 tournament is $1,400,000

You can't count appearance fees and such cause then you can count Nicklaus too.
 
The tournament money is just pocket change. No one ever got rich winning a tournament. It's the endorsements that rake in the "sweet coin."

$55,055,760 earned by Woods in his career is far from pocket changes.
Or $44,493,591 earned by Sighn who doesn't have that many endorsement.

We're not talking about Anna Kournikova who earn most of her money from endorsement.
