Tiger Woods may miss the cut

That's what happens when you take 9 weeks off from competitive golf..

He's not mathmatically out of it yet though. The projected cut right now is +10, so it'd have to fall a couple to keep him in the weekend. It's possible, just not likely at this point anyways.

Cheers to him on an outstanding run though. I'm sure he'll be back in form soon enough.

It's over for TG, don't expect him to go on anymore winning sprees, Jack is safe at the top with most majors.

Maybe the fact that he hasn't played in months has a little more to do with it than any claim that he's lost some skill.

It has nothing to do with taking nine weeks off. He's played and practiced plenty to be sharp. The problem is that Tiger has not known where the hell the ball is going since 2001. Ever since he reinvented his swing he's gotten longer and MUCH wilder. He generally avoids courses that make you hit the ball straight and control your shots. This one he couldn't avoid. He ran into a golf course that exposed the serious flaws in his game. The way most Tour golf courses are set up you can play from 50 yards offline. At Winged Foot you can't. Tiger didn't hit worse shots this week, he just got penalized for them. Quite a refreshing change. If you're making 80 million a year playing golf you should be able to hit a fairway every once in a while.

Wow. Hope he bounces back this year.

I think phil is gonna take this one.

-edit- Gaghalfrunt, I think you're right. I think he hit like 3 fairways each day. don't know the exact numbers. I don't care who you are, but you can't score if you don't hit the fairway.

It's just brutal. Any mistake is going to cost you and pars are a good score on some holes.

I've been fortunate enough to have played there a few times and TV does not do it justice. The greens especially are far more severe than they look on the screen. The scary part is that the USGA has not done much to convert the course to Open specs, the members play it in a similar state. All that's been done is that the fairways have been narrowed a little, the worst cut of the rough is higher and the 9th has been converted from a short par-5 to a long par-4. That course is unbelievably hard every day of the week. They could host a PGA Tour event there without changing it at all from how the members play it and the scores would still be pretty high.
