He's starting to believe his own BS hype. Nothing is ever his fault, it's always a photographer or a ballmark or Stevie giving him a bad yardage or a weird gravity field directly over the hole he's playing.

Part of me thinks it is a legitimate complaint, the other says Steve Nash still hits 90% of his free throws so maybe distractions are just something you have to learn to deal with.

Tiger is not typically a complainer. He probably should have let this one go though. Time for him to focus on the Masters.

Usually I'd say he's a whiner, but hell....he's so damn good and focused that if he says something distracted him, I believe it.

Woods said a photographer's shutter snap during his backswing contributed to halting his momentum in a comeback attempt at last week's CA Championships in Doral, Fla.

At the time, Woods reacted to the click of a camera with an obscenity-laced tirade that included a threat of bodily harm to the next photographer who snaps during his swing.

In a way it is a Catch-22 for Tiger Woods or any other celebrity for that matter; if the photographers were not there, the moment would be lost, when they are there, taking the "perfect picture," it is a "distraction," for a whole different reason. I respect Tiger Woods for his golf accomplishments, but let's be real, you can't have it both ways when it comes to being a celebrity can you?

I don't feel sorry for him....he has enough money to retire and live comfortably. You don't hear the other guys complaining.

I have to hand it to these guys. One shot too far left or too far right is all it takes to put your off the leaderboard. If the current best golfer in the world doesn't want cameras snapping or other distractions when he is trying to compete then so be it. I can totally understand where he's coming from when each shot is as intense as that.

It's the same when shooting a free-throw in basketball. If it was easy, we'd all be millionaires. Tiger is a cry baby.

It should be noted that when you sign up to shoot a PGA event you are required to sign a form that states the rules you will abide by (for photographers). One of the rules is no photos are to be taken until the player has struck the ball (e.g. do not snap a picture during a backswing). Not following the rules can get you kicked out of an event and blacklisted by the PGA/LPGA.

Some photographers that were there stated there were a few people in the crowd that had DSLRs (they aren't supposed to) and no one really knew if it was a pro or someone in the gallery. (I frequent a message board of pro shooters and there is a thread there about this).

Tiger could say global warming was responsible for his loss and I would believe him.

He's Tiger F****** Woods. The greatest golfer of our generation and one of the most well-spoken athletes as well. He has more knowledge of the game than this entire forum combined. If shutter clicks contributed to his loss, I'm sure his statement has some basis in reality.

Unless he is willing to send me a few million, he needs to keep the lid clamped on his whine-hole.

Youre right it is the same. But the distraction is different. Instead of a constant screaming and waving of little baloon tubes if it was completely quiet and someone made noise during the release it would be much harder to block out. There is also an age old etiquette about golf that you have to consider. Tiger training doesn't consist of blocking screamers and visual distractions out of his mind like basketball players do. He shouldn't have to.

Have you been to a golf event? Imagine 150 people all snuggled around a tee box just 10 yards away from you trying really really hard to be as quiet as possible. Its a little strange. He's upset because he was distracted. I wouldnt be surprised if there wasn't a movement to ban the use of photography until the player is completely done with their shot. Cameras are already against the rules for spectators. Camera phones are just too tough to control I'm sure. Debate this like an adult, he's not a crybaby.

Not the same, thats a bad analogy. 1 free throw is 1 of 200+ points scored in a game that has a 10-20 point spread. 1 errant golf shot can cost you 2-3 strokes in a game of 65-70 strokes that is often won by a single stroke, and totaly break your momentum.

After all these years and the sound of a stupid camera shutter throws him off? Give me a break. If the wind blew and make the leaves russtle in the distance would he flip out?

Don't get me wrong, I still classify this under 'severe whine-bitchery', but the sound of a camera shutter can be quite jarring when it's quiet all around.

Says the pro-basketball player and pro-golfer?

Or the pro-keyboard-jockey?

Tiger has done more for golf than any other single man before him. He is literally the goose that laid the golden egg; since he turned pro, the number of millionaire golfers on tour has skyrocketed. Purses have skyrocketed; ratings have skyrocketed. If he wants a crackdown on cameras, you bet your ass the PGA is listening.

as a photographer shooting a golf match you're not suppose to snap at anything until the ball is off the tee/green. the only time when you can take pictures of the swing is when you're like a football field away with a really long tele.

You're really not even supposed to then. There may be other golfers around you within earshot of your shutter as well. Some of the pros use point and shoot cams that have a silent shutter. Others do it well enough with a long lens (600mm or more) they can get away with it.
