is there anyway to control the ball movement in the air? if so what are the keyboard controls for this?

No u can not. I use true swing and apply slice or hook if i need to tweak a shot along with the shot options like short long, forward, back etc.

That's kinda like, in an FPS, is there a hotkey for making everything dead? Pretty much makes the game pointless.
