Tiger Woods 12 on PS3

I haven't played a golf game in a long time. I'm not really enjoying this one yet.

It seems like the gameplay mechanic is first to set up the shot, then to either pull the joystick back the percent it wants, or do a 'three point click'.

Pulling the joystick back seems very arbitrary - if it says 71%, I could pull it 38 or 90 trying to do that. It's just a wild action nowhere close to the number.

The three point click doens't seem that great - hard to get the right click points, and even pretty close the shot goes bad.

The only other option is the move which I haven't tried and might be the only useful one.

I did better with the move in the demo then with the button controller, but I'm still just as bad at video game golf as I am with real golf. Lol

I haven't played a golf game since wii sports, but are there any sensativity settings in the menus you could adjust?

There are a couple ways to get better at getting the percentage that I've found. First, when you do a practice swing, the control will vibrate when you pull back far enough to get the percentage. You can try a few practice swings and learn the sweet spot.

Second, I found that pausing at the top of your back swing will gradually reduce the power. For example, pulling back and pausing for 1 sec is about 85% of a full swing. Also, once you do make contact, learn how to apply the correct amount of spin on the ball. If you hit it short, get forward spin going and the same if you hit it too hard.

After a week or so of getting more consistent with the power, I was able to average 22 under par on all put the fantasy courses. However, it made real life golf just that more frustrating as I can never control my shot to that level.

I've played it a lot on the 360 and really haven't had any issues with the stick pull method. I can usually get pretty close to the percentage I want/need. Toss in a little "focus" and I can drop it in there pretty close on most shots.

first of all the ps3 analogs are terrible for analog shooting in tiger woods games. the 360 analogs are much better/accurate for this. so it's not just you that it is tough to shoot w/the loose, convex, ps3 analog sticks.

second, there is an accuracy stat i believe, and as that goes up, you will have better shots even though you aren't actually moving the analogs any different than you were previously.

if you want a good golf game on ps3, get hot shots golf out of bounds. you can probably find it dirt cheap now. by far the best golf game in a very very long time.
