Tiger Woods 12: EA did what?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I don't read PC gamer that much anymore, but I was bored during halftime of football and the latest one was sitting there so I casually leafed through it.

The review of the latest Tiger Woods golf game caught my eye, and so did the score: 15%. Being a fan of the series in the early 2000s and having many good memories of playing the games with friends and a beer it was a little surprising. So I read to find out why.

Let me get this straight: EA packaged and marketed the PC game the same as the console versions, but while the console versions are complete, independent golf games the PC version is simply a 3 month subscription to TW Online with an Augusta add-on?????????

This is true? If so EA truly has become the devil; the final transition is complete. I couldn't believe what I was reading.

Not familiar with this game franchise, but something is not right here...

Instead of a retail stand-alone game like the products of the same name on the consoles, consumers received a 3-month trial to a different online game?

Not entirely true.

Yes, EA packaged and marketed the PC game the same as the console version when it is in fact a VERY different and far inferior game.

Yes, the PC version includes a 3 month online subscription for the multi-player modes.

No, that's not all the game is. There is in fact a single-player giant pile of steaming cow pies golf game underneath all that and you don't need to access EA Online to play it. You can play forever in single player mode without a subscription. Hardly a problem though as the game is so bad that nobody would keep it and play it beyond 3 months anyway.

EA took a ton of flack in the press and was pretty much forced to offer refunds to anyone that asked for one. That was most people.

The whole thing stinks so bad it makes me sick. I was toying with the idea of buying a PC golf game; I'm glad I found that PC gamer review.

PC Gamer actually saved me money for a change.
