Has anybody out there had trouble with a Win 7 pc screwing with the IP addys on a local area network with Power Mac/Tiger and Pc/Win XP computer's attached with T-100 cables through a high speed switch?

We loaded Win 7 on a dell Workstation and our dynamic IP address function went from working to not. Our Mac 'puters couldn't find each other. PC's too. Only got things back to normal after the Win 7 PC was disconnected from the T-100 wire.

Is Win 7 running it's own DHCP server?

Any idees?

W7 does not have a DHCP server function.

What addresses do the Mac's and PC's have after booting with the W7 host connected?

The address assigned were not in any format we recognized. Not in sequence with our other addys either.

We were only able to reassign addys when we removed the Win 7 'puter from the T100 connection.

Was the first part 169.254.xxx.xxx?

mmmmm drawing a blank. I'll ask the other tech and find out if she recollects. Our addys are 168 based; remembering numbers beginning with 9. See what she says in the am.

Neither of us remember. The trauma of having the whole place go down and having to put it back together while the rank and file were milling round was all either of us remember!

I have an experimental/test laptop pc that I would like to try Win 7 on again, but before I bring it inside the building I'd like to know what to expect.
