TICSA Security certification question

Recently, I completed a week long course on Network security at Global Knowledge. The course was also a prep for the TICSA security exam.
has anyone successfully attempted this exam ?
I was looking at the pros and cons of this certification test.
I only know of the comptia+ and this TICSA security exams (ofcourse, cisco has theirs.) and was wondering how ppl decided on one or the other....
any info would be welcome.
Thanks

I know some folks who have their CISSP ... it's internationally recognized and pretty tough to get, or so I hear. I have not heard of the TICSA, but I'm not a security ninja.

😀 I just passed this exam (CISSP) in June. It was pretty tough. CISSP requires a minimum of 4 years experience in any combination of the 10 domains or 3 years plus a college degree. I've been working in several of the domains for the last 23 years. Even with that much experience I had to put in lots of hours studying. The exam fee is pretty steep, so you don't want to screw it up. (about $500)

I haven't heard of this exam. If you don't want to work, the CISSP is great. It'll get you a management position faster than anything else. 😛

The SANS related certs are also great. I haven't heard much about anything else.

TICSA is by TrueSecure, so it's kinda vendor specific...

congrats AmphibSailor, how'd your brain feel after the test? Mine was hurting...haha...I took the full 6 hrs

go for CISSP, it cost $499 (it was $450 when I took it, 2002) for the test last time I checked, but well worth it if you pass since it's got ISO's stamp of approval (accredited), to my knowledge it's the only InfoSec cert that's been granted accreditation under the international standard...plus I think there's less than 35k certified worldwide...

anybody in NYC taking the CISSP exam this saturday?...I'm proctoring 🙂

SANS is awesome too, their certs are also highly recognized and their courses are intense, like trying to drink from a firehose, but I love attending 🙂

Northcutt is the man.

I can't remember the instructor I had for the firewall track, but he was great too. I think someone in the audience ended up getting him a bottle of tequila on the last day. 😛

I had a hard time choosing which course material to buy from their bookstore, I wanted to buy them all! I attended Skoudis' course, don't know where he gets all his energy from but I'm tempted to start drinking Diet Coke, cuz that's all I saw him drink the entire week during class. 😛 I have yet to take my GCIH exam, they no longer give you PDF files of the material, just the audio. 🙁

My brain was mush after the first 2 hours. I finished the exam in 3 hours, but used an additional 2 hours to review my answers. I caught a few more things the 2nd time around..changing my answers from wrong to right.
