Ticktmaster rant

Okay, so I'm getting some tickets to this concert at a local bar. They go for $18 a piece. I'm getting 2. Total $36.

Now, I realize there are gonna be ticketmaster charges, but get this:

First, there's a "building facility charge" of $1 per ticket.

Then there's a "convenience charge" of $5.50 per ticket.

So I'm now up to $13 in extra charges on a $36 order.

But wait, there's more. Delivery charges. Please please explain to me how this works:

ticketfast delivery - $5.75
Priority Courier - $13.25
Ticketmaster Centre pickup - $3.25
Regular Mail - $3.25
Will Call - $2.25

I'm going with will call cause it's just easier. Anyways, why do they need me to pay $2.25 to pick up my own damn tickets? And why are they all charges? Why not make the lowest one free, tack the $2.25 onto some other service charge, and then lower all of them by $2.25.

So now I'm paying a company $15.25 to print me some $36 tickets. Argh.

indeed, this has been discussed many times on AT and it's unanimous that Ticketmaster is an evil corporation with a monopoly in ticket sales.

Ticketmaster is a really messed up system. They get way more tickets than they should so people end forced to buy from them and they basically scalp you with high prices. The venue promoters like Clear Channel purposely do this and the artists hate it.

Well, when I'm rich and famous, and you all want to come see me, I'll promise to not use ticketmaster 🙂

I doubt you'll have a choice. Remember Pearl Jam?

I vaguely remember something... Details?

Or I could do a first come first serve, gimme a $20 and you're in at the door type deal 🙂

Pearl Jam wants lower ticket prices and says TM has a monopoly, charges too much and makes tickets too expensive. Article says TM is good because it saves people time and money in the long run. I don't really agree much with the hypotheticals given in the article at all, but whatever.
