Ticketmaster, online versus in store?

To start off I'll say I hate Ticketmaster with a passion, every time I've used it to buy concert tickets I get fucking furious. Roger Waters added some new dates to the 2017 tour and they go on sale Monday. I saw him a few years back doing his Wall tour, now he's doing more stuff from the other albums, probably the closest I will come to seeing a classic Floyd concert even though it's not the same without Gilmour.

I've tried in the past to get tickets at the Ticketmaster counter at Kroger and used their web site, both experiences suck, seems most of the time they lock up due to excessive traffic or the good seats are gone before I even see them despite being there the second they go on sale.

So what have you had the best luck with? I'm not greedy, no expectations of first row or anything but I would like the first "ring" of seats without paying through the nose from a scalper.

Get on the presale. Fan club is like 4 days before general release. Find their Facebook page and they usually have a presale 2 days before general release. And neither of those will likely get you first ring of seats nor will general release.

When I say first ring that is basically the whole first elevated level of the arena. There is still the entire main floor of the arena where the hockey games are played, they may be more desirable. I'll look into the presale, if I remember right I had no luck with the presale on the wall tour but got ok tickets during the general sale.

FYI, a lot of the good seats are already presold to brokers, presales, or promotional things, etc. These days I don't think it matters where you buy. 20 years ago I would line up because the website sucked and you'd have to refresh constantly to get through.

Admittedly I haven't bought a lot of tickets the last 4 years or so but when I was the website was fine. Presales definitely worked out for me, even for the toughest tickets like U2.

Fwiw he didn't sell out either one of his LA shows

You might be ok. Tix started at 85 and went up to 250, so I'm gonna wait for now.
