i hate to say it but in my area, this is especially true for women and older asians. they tend to drive more aggressively without any concern for others, smiling away like they're the only ones on the road.

if you're going to use a cell phone, pull over!

At least you're not stereotyping.

Sorry bud, but we nail everyone for drinking and driving regardless if they cause an accident or not.

If people keep acting like l33t assholes with the phones there will be laws passed in each state very soon.

I get annoyed at people for holding the cell phone to their ear because it means they don't have two hands on the wheel and therefore can't drive as well. however, I have no problem with someone driving while using a cell phone with a headset or speakers or such. In fact, a cell phone used with a headset can be less distracting to driving than talking to the person in the passenger seat because you aren't turning to look at him/her.

The vast majority of people never drive with two hands.

Hands on the wheel doesn't matter half as much as attention to the road and your surroundings. And when you're talking on the phone, using your brain to listen, chat, and drive, I can tell you from plenty of experience doing both that being high as fug and talking amoungst friends in the car allowed me to drive easier and react faster then I could while talking on the cell dead sober and by myself in the car. This should be a ticketable offense, no questions asked.

Does that mean we should also ticket people when they're talking to passengers in the car?

It has nothing to do with driving with two hands or not. It has everything to do with the driving being able to concentrate on both tasks.

I have bluetooth in my Acura TL, I don't have to lift a finger to talk on the phone. Giving tickets to someone talking on a handsfree system is as idiotic as giving a ticket to someone for talking to a passenger -- it just doesn't make sense. Ticket those who drive dangerously or wrecklessly, don't ticket someone simply because they're talking to someone else.

i don't see any problem with driving WITH a headset such as bluetooth one
but without a headset its sort of dangerous
i get annoy with drivers who drive slow or don't pay attention when they talk on phone though.
