Hey All,

I just recieved a used Visiontek Ti500. I swiched to standard display before removing my current Radeon 64. After installing the Ti500 and booting up the system, all I get is a black screen. The gpu fan spins but will not wake the monitor. If I turn the monitor off then back on, I get to see a screen full of snowy, red and blue, horizontal lines with the monitor giving my a "missing signal?" message. If I unplug the monitor cable from the pc then plug in again, the horizontal lines go away and I'm left with the same message but with a black background.

I removed the Ti500 and reinstalled the Radeon and no problems at all.

P3V4X \ VIA chipset
P3 700e @ 994 \ 142 fsb

I thought maybe the agp fsb was more than the card could handle but the problem persisted at default settings.

The seller offered to return my money but first we're checking to see if I can RMA the card instead. I just want to hear from anyone else with an opinion:)

Thanks, David

Did you correctly remove all traces of your Radeon?

Also put your system back down to default speeds and make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your system.

<< Did you uninstall the Radeon drivers? >>

<< the radeon's display driver is causing the black screen >>

Really? I thought when you switch to "standard display" the Radeon drivers wouldn't load:) Tonight I'll uninstall the Radeon drivers first.

<< put your fsb back, put the radeon back in and flash to the latest bios and put the geforce in >>

Well the current bios is at least a year old. I once screwed up the bios of a ss7 board by flashing it with the wrong bios so I don't have the guts to choose one myself:) Anyone care to suggest a bios version? I've flashed this bios before but I'm just not sure which one to use.

Thanks for the help guys! David

Got this from Visiontek:

I checked your MB specs and found out your AGP slot is not AGP
PRO 2.0 compliant. This board will support our card coz' it uses the old
standar, AGP 1.0 and runs at 3.3v while 2.0 runs at 1.5v. Also make sure
you have enough power supply to support thecard, 300 watts for Geforce 3.

Does this sound right? Guess I picked the wrong card:(
