TI4600 locks up with 3D games!!!

I have a MSI TI4600. Every 3D game I have has a problem with locking up. I've read some forums about this problem (Geforce 4's having problems with DirectX and/or 3D games) but there's no definite answer I've found and nothing that's worked. The only thing I think it may be is a power supply that's not putting the juice out. I'd like to try everything else before being out the money for that.

Here's my setup:
Gigabyte 7VRXP
Athlon 2100+
512MB DDR
MSI GeForce 4 TI 4600
Audigy Gamer

Anyone have any fixes to try?
 
Could be a power supply. How many watts and what brand is yours? The other thing that comes to mind is a heat problem. If your card has heat monitoring and fan speeds you should check this right away. If it doesn't have these at least open up your case and make sure the fan is spinnning at a good rate.
 
try reducing the clock frequency to 200/250mhz and see if it is stable. I had an XFX ti4600 card I had to send back as it wouldnt run at its default settings - possible core damage from last owner
 
What makes you so sure it is a GPU problem? Is it because of the games? That's no guarantee of a GPU problem.

Are your RAM timings maxed out? If they are, back them off to normal levels and see if that helps.
 
Everything is at its default settings. I've not overclocked anything. I have an "Xtreme" psu at 320w max. I'm thinking someone's going to suggest I have at least a 400w psu, right?

I have a 350 watt antec with a Ti4200 at 325/650, a Raptor hard drive, a WD Caviar SE hard drive, 2 optical drives, a USB mouse, USB flash media reader (in 3.5 inch drive bay), 1 GB of RAM (2x512), onboard sound and a 2.2 Ghz Barton processor... I don't think you need more power unless that's a really crappy PSU.
 
Well, guys and gals, deep in the MSI support archives I found an article on a "known compatibility issue" between Gigabyte mb's and the GeForce 4 TI series, even though when you first get your motherboard out of the box it has this HUGE sticker on the mb saying "compatible with the GeForce 4 series!" Having space to put such a long board in doesn't necessarily count as being compatible.

Anyways, it says to just set the Vcore voltage at +7.5%. I did and I'm not having the same problems. . .yet. I guess time will be the judge.
