which is better geforce 4 ti4200 or geforce 4 ti4200se? i have seen a Second Edition ti4200 in tigerdirect.ca. Its BFG Assylum Ti4200Se.

I thought SE stands for Second Edition.

nVidia released a newer version of Ti4200 with AGP 8x support. And that's the onlt difference.

With video cards, se seems to always stand for slow edition. I've never heard the ti4200 with agp 8x called a ti4200 se--even on nvidias website it was listed as a ti4200 with agp 8x.

SE only stands for Second Edition with Microsoft Windows 98... that is the only product I've ever heard that acronym applied to.

I've never heard of an SE version of the GF4-ti4200. I'm guessing this is a "brand specific" lable used on a GF4 card. A lot of brands use their own nomenclature for labeling cards. Part of the "name game" you know!

On the BFG site, they seem to indicate the se has no DVI connector, altho it does show up on the tigerdirect page.

Maybe SE often stands for "Special Edition". With Video cards, SE and LE usually mean slower versions (downclocked cores or memory). If the memory speed and code speed are the same as standard TI4200s, then your good.

This is exactly right...the manufacturers call it special edition...god knows why....because they are almost always worse than the normal editions....I could understand them calling them LE...light edition.

But for our purposes SE does stand for slower edition...generally slightly slower core frequency and memory too....memory will no doubt be cheaper stuff.

Maybe they call it special edition in the same way some parents describe their underachieving kids as "special"?
