Ok I am looking at buying a new Vid Card. I have had issues with the ATI cards in the game (Dark Age of Camelot) I play and am lloking at nVidia. Which would be better? The Ti 4600 with 128mb or a FX 5600 256mb? I find the cost is fairly close so that isn't an issue.

System is AMD 2200xp
1g 3200 ddr
160 gb WD 7200
GF T 200 at the moment

It all depends what you want it to do.

If you are happy with DX8, I would definately say the Ti4600. If you want psudo-DX9 (like mixed-path in HL2) or DX9 (even though it may run a little slowly), then definately get the 5600.

If you want DX8 then go to GF4 4200 Ti and overclock it to 4600Ti speeds, which is almost sure it will. If you want DX9 then you better buy ATi as Fx series are having lots of performance troubles.

The ti4600 would be MUCH better. In dx8 games the ti4600 destroys the fx5600. And as for dx9 games, as the hl2 benchmarks have shown, the fx5600 is not up to playing these in dx9. In fact, it doesn't even do a good job of running hl2 with the dx8.1 path. So get the ti4600. Or, if you want to save money, do as McArra has suggested and get a ti4200 and overclock it.

The Ti4600 is definitely better than the 5600. The 5600 is too slow to run DX9 and when you go back to a DX8 path the Ti4600 is at times faster even than the 5900 Ultra.

Yeah, the 5600 is a worthless card. However it depends on what you want to do. If you want to play HL2 get a 9600 or 9700

if you dont want to play new games and just want to play old games get a 4200 and oc it. 4600 isnt worth the extra money. at that price point you might as well have a 9700.

Im not ATI fanboy, but this is a bad time to decide not to like ATI because the curerent nvidia cards suck.

Yes, I agree with you guys that if he wants DX9 he needs ATi, but that was not his question...

He wanted to know our opinions on the Ti4600 vs. the FX5600... So I gave him a straight answer...

shafts Dude, I would say the Ti4600 unless you really want the DX9 features. Don't forget that the Ti4600 will show you just as much lovliness in DX8.1 codepath than the 5600 card can show in HL2 if thats what you are interested in.
