I just tested the new PNY Ti 4200 card on my computer and scored 3471. It is ridiculous low. Can any one tell me what is wrong?

My Configuration:
Win98 SE; Direct X 8.1; AMD Athlon 850; 256 pc133 sdram; latest nvidia driver;

Thats the score I get with my highest image quality settings (4xAA 16xAF) try lowering these settings if you can or lowering the image quality setting for performance. I score around 10,000 with lowest Image quality settings you should get 8000? maybe.

What do you expect from an AMD Athlon 850MHz and PC 133 Ram

I tried my Ti 500 on my 500MHz PIII and scored 1978 points.

He should still get a higher score than that.

My brother's Celeron 300a @ 450, with a GF3Ti200 (Not OCed), gets a bit over 3k 3dmarks...

As others have said, your CPU is seriously limiting you. A ~1.4 GHz with DDR would give you around 10,000 marks and much faster game speed. You may be able to tweak a bit but I think 5000 would be the absolute limit for that CPU in 3dmark 2k1.

CP2001 you are running on an Athlon XP with DDR, this is an Athlon 850 with SDR - there's a big performance difference there, and older systems can't keep new video cards "fed" with data fast enough to reach their speed potential.

Actaeon - your score for 3dmark 2k1 SE with a GF3 Ti200 is incredible! 9700 marks for a Ti200 is practially unheard of! Good job! (getting the card to 244/558 is no small feat, however. That's the highest I've seen a Ti 200 go!) As for the Celeron 300A@450 getting 3000+ 3dmarks with a GF3, I don't know how that is possible. That really sounds like, let's say hogwash, to me. I got ~2600 marks with a GF2 and a P3 733, PC133 SDRAM so that number sounds fishy to me.

Thats the results I remember him reporting to me. Sorry if it seems unreasonable,as my memory may be a bit foggy, and I was not there to confirm. After doing a search on the ORB for a 450-500mhz celeron, with a GF3Ti200, a total of 3 results came in, 2 2800+ scores, and 1 above 3k. It may be possible, he got a bit over3k, but doubtful.

As far as the my Ti200 score, I was really suprised to be that high! I really wanted to hit 10k with it though. I bought my Ti200 for $69 shipped 3 or so months ago. Great OCer. My Ti200 plays my games just fine, I'm looking to upgrade to a new GPU this fall/early next year though. Being a poor jobless high school student, I'm looking at the budget version of the 9700. But it really depends what Nvidia puts out by then, what I can afford, and what kind of budget cards are available at the time.

If you check the orb there are plenty of scores with 6000 points or more with a 850mhz or less cpu so there must be a problem somewhere else because he is only scoring half of that

are you sure he was running 3dmark 2k1? i know the old 3dmark had a different numbering system, and it might be possible to get such high scores on it w/ a voodoo3
