You want it to be "Take your sons to work day"??
Because you want your daughter to know her place is in the kitchen right?
Why can't they just freaking say "kids"??

If all-male events are being disbanded and forced to let women participate, the same must happen with all-female events.

It did start out as "Take your daughters to work day". The idea was to make sure girls saw a broad spectrum of career opportunities as being available to them to pursue, and not restrict their thinking to the "traditional" women's careers. Ms. magazine started the idea.
But since that was too un-PC, they had to broaden it to include the boys, which really undermined the original intent.
Where I work, that will mean a day where a bunch of bored, hyperactive kids will be herded from area to area, in a vain attempt to make a bunch of cubicles and meeting rooms appear interesting.
