Thunderhorse platform after Dennis

My friend works for the company that built the topside module the heavy lift deck and hull integration on that platform. He sent me a link to this news story yesterday.

I hope they can get it straightened out! No pun intended. 😉

This platform was supposed to output 1.5 million barrels a day IIRC. Expect the usual increase in gas prices in the next couple weeks...

How the heck does something like that tip like that? It's amazing that something that big doesn't just flip right over when it's tipped that far already, just goes to show how massive that part is that's under the water yet.

Let's spend millions of dollars in putting something that is not hurricane-prrof in an area that probably gets 2-4 hurricanes a year...

Somebody deserves to be fired.

I'm quite sure they thought it was hurricane proof

Somebody deserves to be fired.

That may still be true.

HACK THE PLANET!!!

Wasn't it still under construction?

They may not have been expecting hurricanes this soon.

Had the TV on this morning & they were yapping about how this kind of hurricane activity isn't usually until September.

If I'm sinking 10's of millions of dollars into something, I would rather they know than think it will be alright.
