I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 (the Skylake model), and I connect it to a 27-inch 2560x1440 external display, a keyboard and a mouse. I find myself connecting and disconnecting cables too often to take it with me, and I was thinking of a better solution.
After researching a little bit, I think the only device that can be used to connect all these peripherals to my laptop would be a Thunderbolt dock. In addition, the Thunderbolt dock could also supply power to the laptop itself. And I could also be able to connect future devices to the dock, such as a new monitor with a higher resolution if I decide to go that way, for instance, or external HDs and printers and so on.
I would like to know if that assumption is correct.
If it is, what dock would you recommend? I've taken a look at Dell Thunderbolt Dock TB 15 with a 240W adapter. Does it work with the XPS 15? It is one of the few Thunderbolt docks available here in Brazil, although for a high price. Would you recommend that one? (please have in mind that any Thunderbolt dock not available in Brazil would have to be imported and the import tax is really very high, so there should be good reason to choose another one not available here).
