Hi,

I?ve reached a small problem with buying my new CPU for my system.

Option A
PIII 733EB
GA-6VXC7-4X - The reason I choose that motherboard is the option to set my memory bus +/- 33 MHz of the FSB so I can keep my old PC-100 RAM. I have 192 MB or PC-133 and I want to keep it.

Option B
Thunderbird 750
Motherboard ? haven?t made up my mind

Which would be better? I want to run Half-Life/Quake3 etc and use it everyday to run every day programs, I wouldn?t mind some overclocking potential but if I can?t that?s no big deal to me.
I would basically like the one with the most grunt.

Thanks

the 733eb won't overclock too much, if you want to overclock get an e, 100mhz, like 700e cB0 stepping.

Just decide it by cost because performance will be roughly the same for what you're doing. P3 might even be better because of optimizations depending on games and apps. Your video will be the limiting factor , so might want to look into a duron because its cheaper.

You can also check the cpu reviews at anandtech.

Option B, with a Kt7 raid board.

Less expensive, and you have a greater chance of hitting 1 Ghz.
