My mom is using Outlook Express 6. I'd like to switch her to Thunderbird. I've had a really good experience with Firefox. What do I need to know to transfer her messages and settings to Thunderbird? And will she be able to use it pretty easily? She's not very computer literate. TIA!

When I last used Thunderbird, it reminded me very much of Outlook Express. it looks better and there's no issue with moving my personal settings over from OE to Thunderbird. However, i'm forced to use Outlook 2002 because of my Dell Axim.

Ya, Thunderbird is very similar. You mom will probably not even notice the difference... ;)

I think there is an Import feature that can import the Outlook settings/files/etc. You may need to use Outlook to export everything first, I'm not sure.

just switched her over, she likes it  especially the search bar. It looks like Outlook Express, but much nicer. Kind of has a Mac OSX feel to it. I like it!

is there a one-click method to back everything in Thunderbird up (settings + files)? I already imported her Outlook Express settings and files - that was a one-click solution (it gave me the option when starting, and I didn't even have to export from Outlook!). I'm going to be installing w2k on it (she's currently running XP Home on a 1.3ghz Celeron Dell with 384mb ram, and it hasn't been reinstalled for YEARS), so I need to back everything up. Is there a way to spit it out into one file or a folder or something else that I can import once I've installed the OS? I just want something to drop on a CDr, then import once I'm finished installing.
