thunderbird problems

I was trying to look through some messages which were a few days old, and I discovered that all of the messages before 2 days ago were blank. By this I mean that there was still the list of messages, but if I clicked on any of them nothing would show up. I closed thunderbird, checked the profiles directory, and the inbox file was still there and was 20 megs. I tried taking it out and putting it back in...but all this did was cause all of the blank messages to just disappear completely so that the list of messages wasn't even there anymore.

Any idea what's causing this, or how I can fix it? Thanks...

My messages are all downloaded, so if they're gone I've lost them forever. I'm really confused as to how this happened in the first place...

Open the inbox file in Notepad and take a look (?)

I'd suggest asking in the Mozillazine forums, or IRC: irc.mozilla.org #mozillazine.

You can restore them from backups.

I generally keep the important ones on the server. For a number of reasons. :)
