Thunderbird problem - email disappearing from inbox

I have an odd problem with thunderbird and my school's POP email. It's happened twice now where I've lost a ton of email that it has downloaded from the inbox folder. I have multiple email accounts so each one has its own set of folders/inboxes/etc. But it seems like my schools POP email account loses email from the inbox (the others are fine).

Ive had 50+ emails when i first installed thunderbird and just one startup out of the blue left me with just a few, the most recent emails. And now again it only has emails up to yesterday's set. It's not in the trash folder, or anywhere else I can see.

any help? I'm using winXP, and have only had thunderbird installed for a week.

i dont know. where do I check that? Just installed/tried this out this past week. I haven't done anything except setup the accounts and downloaded the messages as far as I know.

did you find anything out bobalude? same thing happened to me, but in my case i lost 400+ emails 🙁

is it possible to get them from thunderbird back to my univ. inbox?

Are you expecting the mails to remain on the POP3 server? Account settings -> Server settings -> Leave messages on server

duh- thanks bersl

is there anyway to get my emails that thunderbird downloaded and put on the hd, back onto the server?
