How do I set the reply to work right?
I want the cursor to start at the top rather than the bottom!

Tools > Account Settings > Composition & Addressing > Check "Automatically quote the original message when replying" and change the scroll-down to "Start my reply above the quote".

For some stupid reason, it defaults to below the quote...

ALSO, for some reason if I flag a message nothing happens, what do I do if I want to mark a message and keep it bolded or something?

Maybe because below makes sense.

Only to people who use newsgroups. For personal conversations, you usually know what you said in the previous message (or if not, won't mind glancing down). It's only geeks and developers who like it the way it is ;).

That said, I've seen bugs filed about this, and it usually turns into users whining and developers not caring (or caring that it remain the way it is). Personally I prefer replying above quoted text by default.
