Thunderbird glitched lost email accounts

Two days ago I ditched my generic atx case for a Sharkoon T 3-s. This is a great case for its price. Perhaps there was a power surge or something in reconnecting as for some reason I had a problem with my c:/ drive which windows 10 fixed on first boot.
Everything was fine except for Mozilla thunderbird which had wiped itself of all my accounts. This is not the first time it has done this as I recall something similar happened a few years ago.
What with the poor spam filters I have thought about changing to a different client but I do not like the ones that come with windows. I prefer the old outlook style where accounts are in one column and the rows of emails on the other.
So what do you use?

I've used Tbird since there's been a Tbird. Never had a bit of trouble. I wouldn't consider switching unless something drastic happened to Tbird, so I'm not sure what else is out there. Haven't looked.

edit:
You could try Sylpheed. I experimented with it as a portable app, and found it acceptable, but I haven't used it extensively.
