For the last week or so, a new problem has popped up on my machine. Did not have the problem before. I install/uninstall/upgrade software all the time but I can't tie the beginning of the problem to any specific event. The only real problem I have had lately is to try and install Outpost firewall. It left me with a machine where it booted up to the point of the gadget bar which didn't load and then clicking on anything caused the machine to freeze except for the mouse which still worked. I uninstalled via safe mode. But, I do believe I had the problem before that by a few days.
Anyway, what has started happening is when the machine wakes up, I have problems with both firefox and thunderbird. Thunderbird displays the message that the folder is being processed please wait when you go to check for new mail. Firefox gives you the hourglass if you try and navigate anyplace. With both programs, you can close and reopen and all is well.
Like I said this is all new. Something got changed or corrupted. I usually don't use Internet Explorer but I left it open this morning and will check tonight if this is affecting this as well.
