Thunder Snow!!!

I love watching weather and storms. Seen a few tornadoes form right over my head. And right now I've seen something incredible - lightening/thunder but it's snowing.

This is in Louisville, KY.

Thunder snow!!!! Awesome.

Got stuck in it a couple of weeks ago. Heard thunder and all of sudden a blizzard of snow for like two minutes. Pretty cool.

We're watching the weather channel and it was hilarious to see the crawl. "Thundersnow is being reported".

Awesome. You hardly ever get to see this. It's like a strong thunderstorm, but it's snow!

It is a very rare sight. I have never seen the lightning part, but have heard mild thunder during snow.

It was on The Colbert Report a few times last year. His comment: "Thundersnow?? Oh God is pissed!"

Yeah, but you guys probably get the thunderstorms like we get down here. Lot's of co-workers from MI always say the same thing "damn, you don't mess around with thunderstorms"

So to see a thundersnow storm is pretty unusual down here.

I only ever saw it once that I remember, and that was back in grade school in the early 90's.

Certainly confused me, a third grader.

right, the conditions needed for thunder and the conditions need for snow usually don't match up, so its extremely rare

so for those shrugging it off as if its nothing, go DIAF..er THUNDERSNOW!

We get that in Ottawa about once every year. Happened again last week.

Thunder actually woke me up around 4:30 or so this morning. Didn't see any lightning to go with it though. We're in the midst of this storm going through KY, OH, PA, NY, etc.

I did hear thunder & saw lightning a month or so ago during a snowstorm.

(Yes I have seen thunder snow, see it about every third year. It is friggin' awesome.)
