Way back when T-Mobile launched the MyTouch3G phone I had to create a Google Gmail account for it. I did this and thankfully I used it sparingly and no Spam resulted. When I moved away from that cell phone 18 months later I still maintained the Gmail account and to this day I can log into it via the web interface.
I was planning on re-purposing the Gmail account, but I wanted to set it up in Mozilla Thunderbird first. I've previously setup another Google Gmail account for POP/SMTP use with great success but this Android/Gmail account just will not setup.
If I ignore the password option during Thunderbird account setup it creates everything like it should. And during the setup I got a warning when I logged into the account via browser that I needed to enable Less Secure apps, which I did.
But when I try to get Thunderbird to access pop.gmail.com I get the following response which seems to indicate Gmail accounts created for Android devices (just cell phones?) can only be accessed through web interfaces.
Are there two kinds of Google Gmail products?
