Thumbs.db and .DS_Store

I just "upgraded" from Windows XP to Windows 7 on one of my VMWare Fusion Virtual Machines.

I have a folder that I share between the two sides that actually resides in my Mac Documents folder.

I now have both the Thumbs.db and .DS_Store in that folder whereas before I did not have the Thumbs.db file. The folder is usually empty, so, most of the time, these are the only two files in the folder., but I use it often (to transfer files in between the sides), so I have it open a lot.

Is there a way to get rid of either or both of those files permanently?

(Personally haven't used it)

This is what I've been using for years to keep network volumes and such free of Mac metadata files:

Used to be free, now it's $15, but in my use it's unobtrusive, uses no noticable resources, and keeps my non-Mac attached storage and network free of ._ crud. (Edit: forgot to add, it also gets rid of Thumbs.db)
