thumbnails problem

Ok, I have a problem, because I have a large collection of images, mainly screenshots of games and things like that, well every time I want to save another in IE it open a dialogbox in ?My Pictures? folder and show the thumbnails, well it consume a lot of my processor resources, so I have a very long slow time, that keep me away of doing any thing for about a 3 or 4 seconds, I have try to disable that function but Windows XP don?t save the change, so every time that I save an image I have to do the same, which is useless, disabling Norton helps but is not the right answer, what can I do to solve this?

Windows XP PRO, SP2.

thanks for any of your answers

Sometimes the thumbs.db file gets corrupted and will slow down performance...try deleting it. you can also change the setting in folder options to not cache thumbnails. That seems to work better for me.
