Thumb Hurts when using Logitech G500s

I've been using the Logitech G500s for about a month now and after playing some BF3 last week my thumb hurts when I play CS GO or BF3. I think this is because I have to grip the mouse really hard due to the side texture feeling slippery to me compared to my old G500, this most notably on the right side when my ring finger is and I feel like I have to grip really hard to hold on the mouse. Has anyone else noticed the sides feeling slippery on the G500s?

I think maybe it also has to due with weight but it's not that much heavier than the G500. I was thinking of putting some tape on the right side or something so I could grip it better. Maybe I just need to not play for a few days and give my thumb a rest. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I have noticed my thumb getting a little sore on my G500 when I played BF3, I guess this is just due to the weight of the mouse, has anyone else had any thumb pain with the G500/G500s?

I use a palm grip by the way. I was thinking of picking up a G400s because it's lighter and I've heard optical is better for gaming but I found the G500 to be really comfortable so I'd like to keep using the G500s if I can grip as well as the G500 and not have any thumb pain. Thanks.

Sounds like your thumb is being stressed in one direction - squeezing. To balance that off, when you are not playing, put a heavy rubber band around your hand and exercise your thumb in the opposite direction so that it gets equal time in both stress directions. Rest can't hurt either.

Yes, the sides are quite slippery, and I'm really disappointed that all the reviews about this mouse don't point that out.

I just purchased the G500s today, only to discover the slippery sides. The right side of the mouse is the problem, where my little and third finger rest. I Googled "G500s slippery" and found this forum post and joined up to confirm that this mouse is a dud in terms of grip.

It replaced my G5 which died yesterday. The G5 has rubber sides, which are nice and grippy. Whoever at Logitech decided that the rough texture on the G500s was a good thing, didn't do their research. Firstly, the rough texture doesn't feel nice to touch... it's gritty, like the mouse is dirty. Secondly, it's slippery...your fingers don't stay put on this material as well as other materials.

I can't believe I need to either buy a different mouse now, or try some sort of taping up the sides of the mouse. Damn you Logitech.

My pinky was sore with my last new mouse. Part of the reason I got a DA black was for the grippy sides & I knew it would be a problem. I use a kinda fingertip grip but with just the pinky hanging off the outside, my old mx510 had a wicked concave it had got used to chilling in.

It was kinda like getting used to cherry blacks. It was just annoying until a big sesh & then it suxed. I was planning all these wicked silicon mods on the mouse until I realized I was so lazy my hand had got used to it before I got round to fixing it.

Bottom line: Geeks may be piles of lard or scrawny neckbeards -I know that I can barely manage to traverse a slight incline- be we work out in out own way.

Yes I lift.
