Hopefully they spend a year or more in prison for their cowardly (3 on 1) attack.

Changed the title from former to prior service as there's no such thing as a former marine. Once a a marine, always a marine even in death.

These thugs are nothing but cowards and savages for what they did. They need to spend at least 10 years in prison and hopefully the other inmates have some fun with them and teach them a lesson. It's a shame that the father or the Marine didn't have a gun though to prevent this.

The thing about doing the right thing, even in dangerous circumstances, is that no person of true character can not. There is no "rational" weighing of the odds. There is only knowing that you couldn't live with yourself if you didn't help.

Besides some time in prison, I hope these young thugs are forced to pay for Capt. Jones medical expenses at treble cost, and out of money it is documented that they earn on their own.

I can paritally agree, but I'd disagree on one front:

Sometimes, aside from this situation, having no knowledge of the circumstances can cause you needless harm. I would probably call the cops before intervening....personally, and yell "I've called the cops!".

It may sound yellow, but I'd rather play it safe until I am resonably sure that something's wrong. No one can be blamed for doing that, either.

Why did it take so long for the assailants to be arrested when there was multiple witnesses, videos, and the license plate was caught? Also, while I commend him for stepping in an attempting to stop a situation before it escalated, why did so many others just stand around and do nothing once it reached violence and a man was being viciously attacked by 3 people?
