We need tougher sentences for gun crimes. Aggravated Assault is not good enough for pointing a gun at somone on a crowded bus.

Amazingly, a male passenger diffused the situation putting himself in danger.

Maybe using a gun in a crime should also carry a $10,000.00 fine. Then if the gun is fired add another $10,000.00 fine for every bullet fired. This would be to defray medical costs when people are shot. How about a gun charge also?

We need to start changing the "thug mentality" rather than trying to throw everyone with that mentality in jail.

Who's talking about throwing people with an attitude in jail? The article and OP are talking about assault. As far as I'm concerned it's fair game to send everyone who assaults others to jail.

Sounds good on paper but most of these people are degenerates who've never had a job and never will and thus having some sort of lien against them is meaningless. It's hard to collect fines on people with nothing not even a damn bank account.

Imposing fines and jailing people isn't going to get us anywhere or get our gun violence under control. That's all I'm saying.

And you know that how? Common sense dictates that if you take a criminal off the street they're not going to be able to commit more crimes during that time.

Great, the gun grabbers will try to use this incident for their agenda.

They won't and if they did nothing would happen, just like always.

But don't let that stop you from sending out those fundraiser letters about the imminent threat of the Grab Whitey's Guns 2010 Campaign

And where do you think a person like the woman in the article would get $10,000? If she had $10,000 laying around I don't think she would be riding a bus in the first place. someone like that would most likely serve time in lieu of paying it. And that isn't going to stop that attitude.

Fines and punishment doesn't change society as a whole and that is what needs to change.

I dont consider pulling a gun to be assault, it is attempted murder!

Even conceal carry experts will tell you never draw your weapon unless you plan on using it. If you pull a gun out, you better expect the other person to also have a weapon and pull that out. When you pull out a weapon you can expect someone to have the right to react to your threat of death. If someone pulls a gun on you, you should expect them to use it and you better react fast. So if someone pulls a gun expect the other person to react to an immediate death threat.
