I a Tbird last night, but I don't think it comes with a heatsink of a fan.

If they do need one, where can I get Tbird heatsinks and fans?

YES!
Otherwise you will COOK your new cpu! :(

what you got was an OEM cpu which doesn't come with a fan or heatsink. You should be able to get one where you got your cpu from. :)

I got it from Lynncomp.com. It didn't say it was OEM, but then again it didn't say it was retail either.

Is your T-Bird a Socket A or a Slot A. Because if you got a Slot A fan and heatsink it wouldn't be a good thing if you had a Socket A. If you have a Socket A. I know you can get a fan for it at http://www.mwave.com

No AMD produces Slot A T-birds for OEM's only. But they seemed to have filtered their way down into the system so the general public could purchase them as well. From what I have read they will not always produce a slot t-bird.

Don't hesitate to buy from 2CoolTek, Ian's one of the good guys. Opinion based on purchasing experience.

AMD has stated that a T/Bird without a h/sink and fan will burn up in like 8 seconds.

You are absolutely right. And from that same article it states the slotA is virtually identical to a classic Athlon slotA cpu,so I am sure a regular Athlon fan/hs will work.

Yep,I just put my dual fan/HS on my T-bird. Perfect fit.

One thing that I didn't mention. Socket A is the same size as Socket 370 but particularly for T/Birds you got to make sure that you have a really good HSF/FAN, why? cause the T/BIRD puts out close to twice the heat of a Celery/P3. The Duron puts out about the same as a P3. I guess the warning is, most Socket 370 fans will physically fit but for T/Bird get the best.
