Throwing cigarette butts out window..

I tend to think that if people worry about really small stuff like this, they need to find a hobby...and btw a cig butt will be gone in less than a week if you let it alone...however the plastic bag that you put it in when you throw it away...yeah....point proven

I recall there was a similar argument last year. The smokers were out in force in this one trying to justify it was ok to throw the butts out the window because otherwise it will smell their car up when they put it out

My suggestion then and still now is buy a fricken $1 tupperware container, put a little bit of water in the bottom, cut a hole in the top of the tupperware cover. Drop your cigarettes in the hole. They go into the water and go out instantly, smell problem solved.

well it'll take way more than a week. and hiring somebody to clean it wouldnt work out cuz it'd instantly be a union job.

u gotta hire the person whose gonna pick up the butts, plus the person who closes down the entire street to ensure safety, plus the person to watch the person pick up the butts, plus a supervisor for all three.

and also, why did all grocery stores switch to plastic bags? they claim its for enviromental reasons but plastic bags take thousands of years longer to disinegrate naturally compared the the paper bag they used to use.

Keep it in the car! The passenger front floor of my car is overflowing with trash. I will not throw stuff out the window. When I smoked, I used my ashtray for my butts.

I guess since they are so used to throwing them on the ground that they don't think they are doing anything wrong.

i think its funny you gripe about this when you are driving an automobile which has done far more damage to the environment than cig butts could ever hope to

I used to work in this building with a concrete floor. All the employees who smoked used to throw their butts on the floor. One night when they had me sweeping the floor I collected all the butts. I then cleaned off the break table and dumped the butts in the middle of it. When they asked me why the hell I did that I said that since they didn't bother to throw them away I assumed that they wanted to keep them. It didn't help, they still threw them on the floor. Anyone who throws thrash, including their butts on the ground, are inconsiderate, ignorant, dumb fvcks.

yeah i too remember this debate a year or so ago, and i was a smoker then. couldn't for the life of me figure out a real reason i threw my butts out the window

someone suggested emptying a 1/4" batch of baking soda into your ashtray, which would absorb the smell...

i took their advice, and quit tossing the butts out the window!

I saw this kid in a modded honda w/a huge fartpipe toss a McDonald's bag out his window on an on - ramp the other day and it made me sick. The bag hit the road and busted out all over the place. A super size fries box, a huge soda cup, bunch of other wrappers and napkins went flying all over the place. It was such a mess. I caught up to the inconsiderate SOB to get a look at his mug. He was like maybe 18 or 19 and with his little ricer G/F. Some punks were obviously raised in barns with animals.

Another point to ponder is all the people that do this when the grass is dry and a tinderbox. They should also be sited for public endangerment.

BTW, it was my thread that got pretty huge last year. It was entitled "Why do smokers think it is okay for them to litter?" or something very similar. Lots of good discussion.

I'm addicted to twinkies. I just gotta satisfy the crave every few hours. I'll even go stand outside in sleet and snow with other twinkie lovers just to satisfy the addiction. But when I'm done with my twinkie, I gotta throw the wrapper somewhere. Since the government hasn't bothered ponying up the money for a garbage can every 6 feet (the limit of my twinkie wrapper-throwing ability) everywhere in the world, I just toss the wrapper on the ground, wherever I am. Heck, it's even fun tossing it out the car window on the interstate and watching it fly around.

Another good point. Ever wonder how many of the brushfires along highways in the summer were caused by tossed cigs?

That's actually a very real problem out west during droughts. I was in Colorado in May for work and there was a fire almost nightly on the news. Was unfortunate enough to be caught in traffic after work because of it. :|
