Throwing cigarette butts out window..

What is up with people throwing cigarette butts out the window? I don't even know why they put ash trays in cars anymore.
10 years ago I think people actually used their ash trays.
Every day home from work, its guaranteed that I will see at least 3 or 4 people throwing butts out their window. Look by the curbs at stoplights...its disgusting all the butts laying there.

I say more tax on cigarettes, to pay a little extra towards street sweeping. and butts being thrown out the window, like any other wrapper, should be good for a littering fine of $50 or more.

keep your smokes in your car, and empty your ashtray when you get home.

People who throw cigarettes out windows are pigs.

Yeah, right. Ever look at the ground along the curbs near intersections? Typically covered with butts. One of these days I'm going to pick up someones still-lit butt and toss it back in their window, dammit. :|

Really, If you're going to smoke at least take responsibility for your trash. The ground is not where cig butts go!

I don't really care if people smoke, as long as I can get away from the smoke if I want.. and don't be a littering slob.

in my last house, I had some warranty work done.. and the contracters threw cigarette butts in my lawn. I had the company send someone out and pick up the 5 or 6 butts I found. Its the principal of it all.

Especially since they're almost non-biodegradeable. It'd be one thing if they disintigrated in a few days, but the damn filters last for-f*cking-ever.

Come to think of it, why don't the manufacturers come up with a relatively biodegradeable filter? Or have they already? That would render this whole discussion more or less moot.

Yeah...they can smoke in their car but can't be bothered to stink it up with butts collecting in the ashtray.

And since I drive a convertible, I've had a few instances where I've almost had butts tossed into my car! :|

Did it, cops saw it, laughed and said next time they'll have to site me for disorderly conduct and then they fined him for littering.

Another point to ponder is all the people that do this when the grass is dry and a tinderbox. They should also be sited for public endangerment.

..haha, at least with weed there is no filter so it will break down pretty quick.

or if you're gonna smoke and insist on throwing them out the window, smoke filterless smokes. if you throw out a Pal Mall filterless... hey, it will be gone after the next rain.

Yeah, but the R&D would hurt profit margin, and that's something about whichBig tobacco is obviously adamant, given their regard to general American health implications.

Another good point. Ever wonder how many of the brushfires along highways in the summer were caused by tossed cigs?

I saw this kid in a modded honda w/a huge fartpipe toss a McDonald's bag out his window on an on - ramp the other day and it made me sick. The bag hit the road and busted out all over the place. A super size fries box, a huge soda cup, bunch of other wrappers and napkins went flying all over the place. It was such a mess. I caught up to the inconsiderate SOB to get a look at his mug. He was like maybe 18 or 19 and with his little ricer G/F. Some punks were obviously raised in barns with animals.

yes, its not that big of deal to throw your crap away when you get home, or stop at a gas station or whatever..

luckily, although I hate taking cans back, we have deposit law on cans. states that don't have deposit laws tend to have a bit of cans along the roads...

There isn't even an ash-tray in my car. if I wanted to smoke in my car I would have to throw it out the window afterwards. luckily I don't have this problem.. 😛
